Mother, daughter charged in underage drinking party
DARIEN — A mother and daughter were arrested after the mother allegedly allowed her 19-year-old daughter to hold an underage drinking party at their home.
On June 25 around 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a house on Goodwives River Road after receiving an anonymous tip about an underage drinking party happening there. When officers arrived, they found 13 teenage girls between the ages of 17 and 19. There were open bottles of Champagne and wine, as well as plastic cups and glasses at the scene.
The 19-year-old resident of the home, Alexandra Barnard, told police she provided the alcohol for her guests. She then went back on her statement and told police the guests brought the drinks themselves, something the guests reiterated.
One guest showed an officer a text from Barnard saying her mother, Lendy Donnelly, 49, was “okay” with the party. Donnell denied knowing about the drinking and said she did not allow it.
Police broke up the party and the girls were each turned over to a parent or other responsible adult. Barnard was charged with permitting minors to possess alcohol and Donnelly was charged with failing to halt possession of alcohol by minors. Both women were issued misdemeanor summons to appear in Stamford court July 6.
