New Canaan High School will be the venue for Family Centers' inaugural Road to Hope 5k at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6.

This family-friendly 3.1-mile race will benefit the Center for Hope, a Family Centers program offering counseling and support to Fairfield County residents coping with a loss, critical illness or any life-altering circumstance.

The race starts and ends at New Canaan High School, and loops around several scenic neighborhoods throughout town. Walkers and joggers with strollers are welcome, but pets are not allowed.

The entry fee is $30 per runner in advance and $35 on the day of the race. Food, entertainment and a limited-edition event T-shirt will be available. An aid station will also be set up between miles 1 and 2.

Race bibs can be picked up in advance from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4 at the Center for Hope, 590 Post Road, Darien, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Race-day registration and packet pick-up opens at 7 a.m. at New Canaan High School.
