New Jersey man charged with narcotics possession
Sean Murphy, 21, of Wyckkoff, N.J., was arrested on June 15 on a charge of possession of narcotics.
At approximately 3:20 a.m., an officer traveling north on I-95 near exit 12 saw someone walking on the shoulder of the highway, who was later identified as Murphy, said police.
Murphy was talking on a cell phone and waving his hands, police said, in an apparent attempt to hitch a ride.
The officer saw that Murphy was unsteady on his feet and at one point almost fell over a guard rail, police said.
According to the report, the officer said he detected the smell of alcohol and noted that Murphy appeared jittery and nervous. Police said Murphy admitted to consuming cocaine 30 minutes prior. When the officer conducted a search of Murphy's wallet, he located a clear plastic bag of 0.6 grams of cocaine, said police.
He posted $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 24.
