List your three top issues to address if you were to be elected:
1. Budgetary & Fiscal Pressures
2. Special Education
3. Negative School Perception
What sets you apart from other candidates?:
I am a self-made Norwalk Public School product that worked my way through childhood adversity to become a University of Connecticut graduate and a successful entrepreneur in the apparel industry. I am an analytic thinker with a strong creative and branding background. I understand this city, and it's people, and my love for it will guide my every move.
I am not fiscally conservative, but I do believe in being fiscally efficient. We need to scrutinize our budget and make sure we spend our money wisely. Many of my opponents have grandiose ideas on transforming our schools but come up empty with ideas on how to pay for it. We need to strike a balance of investing in creating top-notch schools while protecting our seniors and residents on fixed incomes from financial hardship.
I will work to create a policy to help change the perception of Norwalk Public Schools through rebranding and community outreach initiatives. I will devote myself to support our Special Education Parents and Students and work diligently to create a SPED program second to none. Finally, I would like to help create a "life skills" program for all Norwalk Students. I find many kids graduate from high school and are college and career ready but lack the fundamental life skills like balancing a checkbook, applying for a loan or household budgeting. Think home economics for the 21st Century!
We need a diverse board to represent the people of Norwalk, and I know I will bring unique perspective and skill set to the job. I am humbled to be a candidate and appreciate your vote on November 7.
