Numerous offerings available at YWCA
The YWCA Darien/Norwalk, 49 Old Kings Highway North, Darien, offers a variety of programs for women in lower Fairfield County.
The program is designed to support women in all aspects of the job search process and offers computer classes in Microsoft applications and keyboarding, one-on-one resume writing assistance and individual job search strategy and coaching with an individualized approach. Intermediate Excel, three, two-hour classes take place Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon or 6 to 8 p.m. March 26, April 2 and April 9.
Intermediate Word, three, two-hour classes take place Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon or 6 to 8 p.m. March 27, April 3 and April 10.
Keyboarding, three, one-hour classes take place Tuesdays from 1 to 2 p.m. March 11, 18 and 15 or Thursday from 5 to 6 p.m. March 13, 20 and 27.
The workshop will aid attendees in effectively setting up their LinkedIn profile as well as how to best use the entire site in a job search. The workshop is facilitated by Nancy Sheed, social media strategist and online content manager, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 11.
An evening yoga class for mothers and their elementary school age children takes place in the YWCA Dance Studio. Instructor Talita Moss has created a program in which moms and kids bond over learning yoga poses and body awareness. Classes take place March 12, 19 and 26 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Registration is ongoing.
Facilitated by professional artist Wendy MacCordy, participants can choose their favorite paint medium or experiment with a new one. This class is for all levels of ability. Some materials are provided. Canvases are additional but available for purchase. Classes are Wednesday beginning March 12 from 10 a.m. to noon.
