Police evacuated the building and the Stamford Bomb Squad and the Stamford K9 Unit were called in. They searched the store using an explosive detection K9, Sgt. Jeremiah Marron said in a release.

The Darien Fire Department and Post 53 were on standby, according to an officer on the scene.

"Based on initial investigation and through collaboration with store management, all necessary precautions were taken including the evacuation of the premises and notifying the Darien Fire Department," Marron said in a release.

The store remained closed for approximately 90 minutes but re-opened shortly after 5 p.m.
