Product recall information at your fingertips
The Consumer Product Safety Commission now offers updates on product recalls on social media as well as on its website.
Information may be obtained:
Via Twitter: @OnSafety. The CPSC posts nearly all recalls and all news releases on its Twitter feed. Important safety messages, tips and other information can be obtained via twitter.com/onsafety;
On Flickr: Photos can help consumers identify if they own a recalled product. Photos of many recalled products can be seen at www.flickr.com/photos/uscpsc;
With Google+: The CPSC recently launched a page and is now posting "Recall Roundups" and some of its larger recalls at http://bit.ly/14ZhXNL
In addition, recalls and consumer safety reports are available at www.SaferProducts.gov, which is a forum for products that consumers own or are thinking of buying.
The CPSC also posts all of its recalls at www.cpsc.gov/recalls.
"There's no need to wonder if the products, furniture and toys in your home are safe for your family," said Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein. "Just `connect' with one or more of these sites to stay on top of the latest recalls and safety news."
