DARIEN — A 36-year-old man from Rhode Island was charged with criminal mischief after allegedly throwing a brick through a window at Trader Joe’s.
Officers responded to the Post Road business Aug. 8 around 1:30 a.m. after someone reported the broken glass. When officers arrived, they found a small hole in the front window of the grocery store. Inside the store, just past the hole, was a brick. Officers searched the store and found no damage. While searching the area, they located Charles Taylor, of Cowesett Avenue in West Warwick, R.I.
While being interviewed by police, Taylor denied breaking the window but offered to pay for the damage. Surveillance footage from Chase Bank next door showed an individual, thought to be Taylor, walking toward the front of Trader Joe’s with a brick in hand.
Taylor was later brought to Norwalk Hospital by Post 53 after indicating to officers he needed medical attention. He was issued a misdemeanor summons for second-degree criminal mischief and released on a promise to appear in Superior Court in Stamford Aug. 18.
