The Eli Whitney Museum and Workshop recently visited second-graders at Royle Elementary School in Darien to introduce them to the life cycle of the pumpkin.

All learning is approached by the museum as an opportunity to interact with the subject matter in a practical way. The second-graders learned about the life cycle of the pumpkin plant through the task of building a small moving model showing each stage.

After a short introduction to the project, the children were given a set of materials and set to work building their own model demonstrating each stage of the cycle.
