STARescue, a community-based service organization, hosted a pet adoption event Saturday, May 5, at the High Ridge Shopping Center in Stamford. In addition, STARescue celebrated the grand opening of the Pet Food Pantry where dog and cat food will be distributed to those families in need.

Several area rescue groups participated, including Adopt-A-Dog of Greenwich, Bully Breed, Guardian Angel Rescue, animalsRfamily and Volunteer Square.

Peter Suchy Jewelers and Hearst Media Services, High Ridge Center, Samuel Lotstein Realty Company LLC and Phil Lotstein and family are sponsors.

Animals will be available for viewing. Volunteers answered questions and assisted with the application process.

STARescue announces the grand opening of the STARescue Pet Food Pantry. To ensure that no pet goes hungry, the pantry provides free dog and cat food to anyone in a financial crisis. Additional Pet Adoption Days have been scheduled the first Saturday of each month from noon to 3 p.m. through Aug. 4. All pet adoption events will be held at High Ridge Center in Stamford.
