Sails Grill and P2P of Darien partner for charity
Sails American Grill and Person-to-Person of Darien are collaborating in an effort to collect gently-used coats for those in need.
From now through Nov. 24, Sails American Grill in Rowayton will collect gently-used coats to benefit those who are less fortunate. For each donation, Sails will provide a voucher to be used at customer's convenience valid for a complimentary glass of wine or dessert of choice. Coats can be dropped off during business hours at Sails.
"It is with great pleasure that we are partnering with Person-to-Person and offering an incentive for people to donate," Terry McSpedon, general manager of Sails, said. "Last year, Person-to-Person collected over 4,000 coats throughout the year and we hope that with our help, that number will increase this year."
Person-to-Person is a volunteer-driven, community-based agency that, through a sharing of goods and services, responds to neighbors who lack basic necessities and resources to improve their lives. Person-to-Person offers assistance to clients in four key areas: emergency assistance, scholarship programs, campership programs and holiday programs. More than 90 percent of all donations goes directly to programs. For more information visit www.p2pdarien.org.
Sails American Grill is located in the village of Rowayton, adjacent to the Five Mile River Harbor. The restaurant has earned a "Don't Miss," the highest accolade given in a review by the New York Times. Catering to sailors and non-sailors alike, Sails is, as the name implies, a grill serving a wide variety of seafood and non-seafood items in a family friendly atmosphere reminiscent of a private yacht club. The fireplace is lit all winter and there is an extensive bar and food selection.
