An art scholarship was created in honor of MaryLee Fisher, former Tokeneke Elementary School educator, who died Nov. 27

Fisher was principal of Darien's Tokeneke Elementary School for 15 years before retiring in 2011.

She was considered an outstanding educational leader who demonstrated a deep commitment to supporting the learning needs of students, according to an announcement from the Board of Education, and Fisher played an important role in the planning and building of the new Tokeneke.

The school's mural, which shows various literary characters, was dedicated to Fisher.
