DARIEN — Over $2,500 worth of shampoo was stolen from CVS after the suspect fled the store with a duffel bag stuffed with 45 bottles of salon-quality shampoo.

On Dec. 27, an employee at the CVS on the Post Road called police at 2:26 p.m. to report the incident as the suspect fled the scene. He was described as a black man 5 feet 7 inches and 9 inches tall with a heavy beard and no or close-cropped hair. He wore a baseball hat, a knee-length black coat, dark pants and light brown work boots. He carried a brown duffel bag.

Upon entering the store, the man made his way over to the shampoo aisle and began filling the bag with around 45 bottles of “It’s a 10” brand shampoo. The total value of shampoo taken was around $2,759.

An employee saw the man and followed him out the Post Road exit of the store where he entered what was described as a black VW Beetle with New York plates. The car then fled down Center Street toward Old Kings Highway South.

The store was able to provide police with a license plate number of the getaway vehicle, which was traced back to a black Kia Sol. Based on this, police said they have a suspect in mind. The investigation is ongoing.
