Newly-elected Connecticut State DAR Regent Joyce Cahill will be the keynote speaker when Darien's Good Wife's River Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution hosts the annual Five-Town DAR potluck luncheon meeting at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at the Parish Hall of the Congregational Church on Brookside Road in Darien.

Cahill will discuss goals for her 2010-2013 when DAR chapters from Wilton, New Canaan, Norwalk and Stamford join Darien for this event. The state theme for Cahill's term is "Rooted in the Past, Cultivating the Present and Branching Out for the Future."

The event will include a brief business meeting prior to the luncheon.

Plans for the DAR holiday luncheon hosted by the Stamford Chapter at the Stamford Yacht Club on Wednesday, Dec. 1, and the Good Citizen Award presentation at the home of Corresponding Secretary Vigee Droesch on Friday, Dec. 10, will be finalized. The Wreaths Across America ceremony for the Darien's Veteran's Cemetery at noon on Dec. 11, will be discussed.

This Five Town meeting comes just 10 days before local DAR members will attend the 117th Fall State DAR meeting at the Courtyard by Marriott in Cromwell on Oct. 22 and 23.

Membership in the DAR is open to any woman age 18 or older who can trace her direct lineage to a patriot who served the cause of American independence during the Revolutionary War.
