DARIEN — Cool to see a skateboard soar, but there’s science behind the sport.

Wondergy, a Philadelphia-based education company, held a physics demonstration at Darien Library Saturday morning using the skills of a veteran skateboarder to show the science.

“Skateboarding is awesome,” said Erica Gauquier, teen librarian, “and at the same time it’s teaching them physics.”

“The company does all sorts of education science programs,” said teacher Tristan Young, explaining that children want to learn about things they’re interested in.

Skateboarder Evan Breder said he’s practiced his craft for 11 years. “It just takes time and lots of patience,” he said. “Skateboarding probably instilled the biggest work ethic in me out of anything.”
