Two Stamford men face drug charges
Raul Nunez, 29, of 45 East Ave. and Armen Karaptian, 25, of 55 Tremont Ave., both of Stamford, were arrested Aug. 5 on charges of possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with the intent to sell.
An officer on patrol stopped the 2004 Jeep Cherokee driven by Karaptian on the Boston Post Road near Hollow Tree Ridge Road around 5:43 p.m., according to the incident report. Police said the Jeep approached the marked patrol car from behind at a high rate of speed, switched to the left lane, and cut back in front of the patrol car in what police described as a "dangerously close manner" causing the officer to pull the Jeep over, according to the report.
A search of the car uncovered a large bag of marijuana with several smaller bags of marijuana inside it, a canister holding cocaine, a burned marijuana cigarette and a digital scale with marijuana residue on it, said police.
Police said Karaptian admitted the marijuana was his, though neither man admitted possession of the cocaine.
Karaptian posted $15,000 bond and Nunez $20,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 15.
Police said Nunez's bond was higher because the drugs were located in closer proximity to him in the car.
