Adult and youth members of the Darien United Methodist Church spent last Saturday helping in the construction of affordable housing in Bridgeport.
They participated in the program of home construction, which is sponsored and managed by Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County.
Their projects ranged from mixing and pouring cement for deck footings, cleaning the interior of the homes and removing debris from the construction site.
The duplex home project is being built for two in-need families, who applied with Habitat CFC for the housing, exhibited an ability to pay a zero percent mortgage on the property, and who actively participate in the building of the project through sweat equity.
The home will greatly improve the living conditions of their owners, and make them participants in the improving neighborhoods of Bridgeport. Habitat CFC has built more than 150 homes in Bridgeport, Stratford and Stamford impacting the residents and neighborhoods of these communities.
