A Better Chance in Darien is raffling off a Vespa in a benefit to support its scholarship program.

The Vespa was rated "best all-around choice" for scooters by Consumer Reports in March 2009. At a top speed of 39 mph, the Vespa will go for nearly 100 miles on one gallon of lead-free gas.

The winner will be announced at Post 53's Memorial Day Food Fair on Monday, May 27.

A Better Chance in Darien is a not-for-profit organization that provides four-year academic and boarding scholarships to promising young women of color from under-served environments. Currently, seven scholars live in Darien and attend Darien High School.
