A swirling wind in Southwestern Connecticut today will make it feel even colder than it really is. Although highs will be in the mid-30s today in Fairfield and New Haven Counties, the wind chill will be in the low 20s or even possibly the teens. The wind is whipping at an average of 20 miles per hour.

Snow flurries are possible, but mainly in the north and eastern portions of the state.

A total lunar eclipse was a disappointment for many skywatchers in the state overnight, as clouds covered it for most of the four hours it was expected to be seen.

All eyes will now turn to the holiday weekend as those hoping for a white Christmas may see their wish come true. A hazardous weather outlook has been forecasted by the National Weather Service. It calls for a "significant winter storm," on Christmas Day into Sunday night and the day on Sunday. A low pressure system will bring with it snow as it tracks from the southeast up the east coast on Sunday. It is still too early to predict the exact track.

Sunset today will occur at 4:27 p.m. and there will be 9 hours and 12 minutes of sunlight.

Sunrise on Wednesday will occur at 7:15 a.m.

Low tide today will be at 5:14 p.m. in Milford, 5:17 p.m. in Bridgeport and 5:21 p.m. in Stamford/Greenwich.
