Nicola Bowes, 36, of Limerick Street, Stamford, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, operating a vehicle under suspension and failure to stop at a stop sign, according to police.

Police stopped Bowes at 1:41 a.m. after they observed her traveling slowly on Walmsly Road and then failing to stop at a stop sign on Hecker Avenue, police said.

The officer reported that Bowes smelled of alcohol, had glassy eyes and was slurring her speech, police said.

She subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was charged police said. She refused to take a Breathalyzer, police said.

Bowes posted a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 18.
