Police: Woman charged in man's death after hammer attack
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say they have charged an 18-year-old woman with murder after she attacked a man who let her stay in his home with a hammer.
Police say Tyekiva Harvin and an unidentified man left the Orangeburg apartment after the Sunday morning attack.
Orangeburg Public Safety Chief Mike Adams said at a press conference that 68-year-old Bobby Huggins ran from his bedroom after being hit with the hammer and a man in his living room then shot him several times.
Adams says Huggins was able to call 911 and identify his attackers before he died.
Adams says Huggins sometimes left Harvin stay in his home because she was homeless.
The chief says investigators are still trying to identify the man with the gun who was with Harvin.
