FAIRFIELD — If all you want for Christmas this year is to live along the water the listing agent of a beachfront property near Penfield Pavilion and other local amenities has a suggestion worth considering. And, with only a few more shopping days left before Christmas now would be the time to take a look at the custom colonial house at 825 Fairfield Beach Road before someone else has the same gift in mind for their family or their self.
“Live everyday like you are on vacation,” the listing agent says.
The 3,996-square-foot house was built in 2010 on a largely level parcel of just over a half an acre, which is a large lot for the beach area. Most properties in this neighborhood are not as generous. From this property at Shoal Point on Long Island Sound there are spectacular panoramic water views of the Sound and Penfield Reef Lighthouse. A house this close to the water is clearly in the flood zone but, according to the listing agent, the annual flood insurance of $718 is transferrable.
The contemporary colonial house was given an open floor plan to take full advantage of its superlative location, the agent said. Almost every room has a water view, and there is a large covered deck on the water side of the house. The street-facing side has a long, covered front porch.

A long, crushed stone driveway provides ample parking for family and guests, and there is a three-car attached garage above which is a large bonus room. It can be used as a play or game room, a family room, or for storage since homes this close to the water do not have a basement. It is accessed from the garage stairs or from the entrance foyer on the same level as the bonus room. The foyer also leads into the great room, which comprises the gourmet eat-in kitchen, dining room, and a sitting room. From there a set of stairs leads down a few steps to the living room, which has a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, a dry bar with counter space, a wine refrigerator and a separate beverage refrigerator, and French doors to the covered deck.
In the spacious kitchen features include a large two-tiered center island with an attached table for casual dining, a built-in desk area, a backsplash of glass tiles, floating and other cabinets - some with glass-front doors, and under-cabinet lighting. High-end appliances include a six-burner range, double wall ovens, and an LG refrigerator.
On the second floor the sizable master bedroom suite has a vaulted ceiling, a sitting area, and French doors to a private balcony looking over the water. The master bath has two sinks, a shower, and tub. Another bedroom is en suite and two other bedrooms share a hall bath. There is a fifth bedroom and a finished attic.
