Rising Darien senior Alex Ostberg, a standout cross country, indoor track and outdoor track distance runner, was named Darien's Sports Person of 2014 by the Fairfield County Sports Commission. Ostberg is among a group of athletes and coaches who will be recognized at the 10th annual Sports Night awards dinner on Monday, Oct. 20, at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich. Each Fairfield County town will be represented at the dinner, as well as the town of Newtown, by its honored athlete, coach or team.
This past spring, Ostberg won the 5,000-meter race at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals meet with the second-best time in meet history.
